Moving on from Youper, Sanvello, Woebot or MindShift

Several CBT apps have closed or changed recently. If you relied on one, here is what happened to it, what you can still do about your data, and an honest comparison with Etappi, including what Etappi doesn't do.

Facts checked on 3 October 2026.

What happened to each app

Youper

Youper stopped working on 30 September 2026. Youper's notice to users, as reported, says user data is deleted from 1 October 2026.

If you didn't export your entries before the shutdown, they can't be recovered. If you kept notes or screenshots, you can type your mood ratings into the import template below.

Sanvello

Sanvello is now called AbleTo Self Care+ and is available only through AbleTo members' health plans or employers.

If you're not an AbleTo member, you can contact AbleTo about your data. The email template below may help.

Woebot

Woebot's app for individual users closed on 30 June 2025. Old accounts can no longer be opened.

Woebot's FAQ is the place to check for any data request route that is still open.

MindShift CBT

MindShift CBT is still listed on the App Store under the seller 247 Labs Inc.

Its App Store version notes mention a data export feature, so check the app's settings. You can also note your mood ratings in the import template.

What's similar in Etappi

What Etappi doesn't do

  • A chatbot. Every Etappi flow is scripted, step by step.
  • Coaching or messaging with a person.
  • A community feed.
  • A library of guided meditations.

Bring your mood history with you

  1. Download the Etappi template, or export a CSV from Daylio if you used it.
  2. Fill in one row per day: the date, an optional time, a mood from 1 (very low) to 5 (very good), and an optional note.
  3. In Etappi, open your account settings and choose Import mood history.
  4. Check the preview, then import. Importing the same file twice won't create duplicates.

Ask for a copy of your data

Copy this email, fill in the brackets, and send it to the app's support or privacy address.

Subject: Request for a copy of my personal data Hello, I'm a former user of [app name]. Under the data protection law where I live (for example UK GDPR Article 15, or the California Consumer Privacy Act), I'm asking for a copy of the personal data you hold about me, including my mood entries, journal entries and assessment results, in a common electronic format such as CSV or JSON. The email address on my account is [your email]. If you need anything else to confirm my identity, please let me know. Thank you, [your name]

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my Youper history?

Only if you saved it before Youper closed. Youper says data is deleted from 1 October 2026, so Etappi can't fetch it for you. If you kept notes or screenshots, you can type your mood ratings into the import template.

Does Etappi have a chatbot?

There is no chatbot. Every step is written by people and works the same way each time. If you liked talking things through, the structured flows may feel different at first.

Is Etappi free?

Help me now, with grounding, breathing and crisis resources, is free without an account. The full app has a free trial, then a paid plan.

Will my data be stuck in Etappi too?

No. You can download everything you've entered as a file at any time from your account settings, and delete your account whenever you like.
